City of Optimism?

Maybe I was wrong about Chicago's pessimistic tendencies.

89% of Tribune Sports readers are picking the Bears.

For the life of me, I don't understand why everyone in the national media is picking the Colts, considering the Bears are better at:
1.) Running the ball
2.) Defending the pass
3.) Defending the run
4.) Special Teams
5.) Coaching, and
6.) Turnovers.

My prediction: Bears 30, Colts 21. Bear down Chicago Bears!

It's simple. Regular season doesn't mean anything anymore. Look at NFL performance in the playoffs:
Total D: Colts #1, Bears #7
Rush D: Colts #2, Bears #3
Pass D: Colts #2, Bears #10 (not a good matchup)
Points Allowed: Colts #2, Bears #3
Total Offense: Colts #2, Bears #3
Rush Offense: Bears #1, Colts #5
Pass Offense: Colts #3, Bears #7
Points Scored: Bears #1, Colts #3
Turnover Margin: Bears #1, Colts #6
In the sports world of what have you done for me lately, I can understand why the media is picking the Colts considering the way their defense is playing and given the porous Bears pass D as of late.

[Measuring defense by yardage, instead of points, is like measuring a hockey team's defense by opposing attack time. Same with measuring offenses. Sure, attack time is correlated with goals, by why not just measure goals? Points are the name of the game.]

Some thinking points on the game:
*This was not Rex's fault. He had a higher completion percentage than Manning, and the fumble aside, the only throws that were awful were with the Bears rushing the offense. I am so sick of Rex haters, it's beyond belief.
*The Bears defense allowed 191 yards rushing. Holy freaking cow. There's your ballgame right there.
*Peyton Manning elevated himself from mildly annoying brat boy to guy who can kiss my tookas. His winning MVP is salt in the wound, particularly because he doesn't deserve it.
*Chicago fans complain a lot about front offices and coaching, so I'll make this quick: I would have liked to have more blitzing and more of Rex's arm. The game plan clearly called for little of each.
*It's all too convenient to blame the offense. Aside from pathetic 3rd down conversion (which was actually Bears typical), what could they do if they're not on the field?

Just remember that you are the one who brought up how the Bears are better at running the ball, defending the pass, and defending the run which are stats defining the number of yards they rack up or allow as the case may be. So yes, why not start this post with a simple comparison of points scored and allowed since that's all that really matters?
